East Cape Hummer Tour

The East Cape Tour begins from your hotel, where you take a scenic 45 minute drive down the #1 highway. This highway will take you to the town of Miraflores. Once you reach Miraflores you will be off to begin your scenic mountain expedition to the Sea of Cortes.

As you ride through the mountains, you will have a chance to see sleepy villages and numerous farmsteads. Lovely canyon views allow you a rare chance to examine geological formations that date back to the Late Miocene Epoch, 15 million years ago, all the way to the Cretaceous Period, which was 80 million years ago.

The mountain drive will last for one hour and thirty minutes and will take you to the Ox tongue farm, also known as, Rancho Lengua de Buey. You will have a chance to observe the ins and outs of ranch life as it was done years ago. During this time, you will view fossils from the area's mountains and riverbeds. For example, you will be able to view fossil teeth that belonged to a Megatooth Shark. The Megatooth, also known as the Carcharodon Megalodon, is the world's largest predator. This ferocious beast evolved over 20 million years ago. The estimated size of this huge animal was around 60 feet long and a single Megatooth was believed to weigh as much as a greyhound bus.

Upon leaving the ranch you will travel for 15 minutes in order to reach the highest point of the excursion, La Trinidad. La Trinidad is so high that in the evenings you are able to see the shining lights of San Jose del Cabo. The final stop on the East Cape excursion is Rancho Antares. This ocean front farmhouse is located between Los Frailes and Cabo Pulmo. While at this spot, you will have the opportunity to enjoy snorkeling, kayaking, or you can just take some time to relax and take in the scenery around you. While at Rancho Antares, you will enjoy a picnic lunch in front of the ocean. After lunch you can choose between taking a one hour kayaking trip or a short drive (10 minutes) to Los Arbolitos beach where you can enjoy amazing snorkeling options.

Los Arbolitos has the only living coral reef in the Sea of Cortes. In fact, this coral reef is one of just three that are in North America. This is by far one of the most biologically unique and diverse ecosystems found in North America and perhaps anywhere in the world.

As you head back to your hotel, you will travel a dirt road, which moves along the coast of the Sea of Cortes. You will pass Boca de la Vinorama and Santa Cruz de Los Zacatitos. From there you will move to the #1 highway in order to pass La Playita, which is the fishing village for Puerto Los Cabos, and San Jose del Cabo.
